9:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

Approximately 2:30 PM.

 

 

Format:

5 rounds Swiss pairing.

30 minutes per player per game.

Tie Breaks

To be decided.

 

 

Entry Fee:

$10.00 per player

The tournament will be open to all grades (K-12).  Sections will be as follows:

 

Section 1

Players rated below 400

Section 2

Players rated 401 to 600

Section 3

Players rated 601 to 850

Section 4

Players rated above 850

 

Note that the sections listed above will be subject to sufficient players registering.  Sections may be adjusted on the day if necessary.  Medals will be awarded to the top three players in Sections 1, 2 and 3.  A cash prize will be awarded in section 4 (based on numbers).  Finalist Pins will be awarded to all other players engaged in tie-break games.  The event will rated by Chess’n Math.  One requested half point bye will be available per player provided the request is made to the tournament director before players are paired for the round for which the bye is desired.   

 

Important Note to Parents:

All tournament participants must be supervised by a parent or designated guardian.  Neither the Newfoundland and Labrador School Chess Association (NLSCA) nor Bishop Abraham Elementary School will be held responsible for the safety or behaviour of participants not actively engaged in tournament play.  The responsibility of the tournament organizers will be limited to ensuring fair competition in accordance with NLSCA tournament rules.  (See http://www.chess.nl.ca for more information).
