Chess Camp 15th - 19th August 2005
Thanks to our dedicated instructors and camp counsellors, our camp with almost 40 campers went extremely well without a hitch. Our invited Masters, Nihad Dervisevic and Grant Spraggett started each morning with a teaching theme to each of our three groups followed by another practical session on tactics and demonstrations by our camp counsellors. Team, short games, blitz and double touraments were played throughout the whole week. For physical activities, thanks to the good weather, we had enjoyed most afternoons for at least an hour in the soccer field. We also spent sometime in the gym as well. Our other activities included basketball, frisby, paper airplanes, grasshopper hunting, origami and occasionally quiet time as well. We also had a surprise visit by a US Chess Master, Alan Salvage who was kind enough to spend a short time at our champ during his brief tour in NL. To top it all, we held a free Pizza lunch party for everyone on our last day!

Judging from the responses of our campers, this year has been our biggest success. To ensure a space for next year, campers are strongly advised to register early next year. It will be a definite challenge to outpeform ourselves in 2006 !!
