Q. When did you first start playing chess?

When I was in Kindergarten (around 5 years old).

Q. Do you prefer the white pieces or the black pieces?

I prefer the white pieces, they give me immediate inniative.

Q. What are your favourite openings?

My favourite openings are the Ruy Lopez and Queen's Gambit for white and the Scilian and King's Indian for black.

Q. What are your thoughts on chess in Newfoundland compared to chess in other provinces (if applicable)?

I think that chess in Newfoundland in comparison to other provinces is much with regards to the amount of tournaments available.

Q. Has chess helped you develop other skills in life?

Chess has helped me develop many facts in my life such as problem solving, abstract thought, and the sciences in school. It has helped me with my people skills because of the many acquaintances I have had through chess. I also think it has also helped with my time management.

Q. Do you have any advice you could offer to any aspiring players?

To the aspiring players - "Reach for the moon and even if you miss you will land amongst the stars" is a famous quote that offers great advice.
